How to Cancel Vodafone Mobile Phone Contract UK
If you’re looking to cancel your Vodafone mobile contract in the UK, there are a few key steps to follow depending on your contract type, whether you’re switching to another provider, and whether you’re still within your minimum term.
📋 What to Know Before You Cancel
Vodafone contracts usually have a minimum term of 12, 18, or 24 months. If you’re still within this period, you may have to pay an early termination fee (ETF) — also called an early exit fee. This is typically calculated based on the number of months remaining in your contract.
You can check your contract status, bills, and upgrade eligibility by logging into your Vodafone account.
If you’re switching to another network, Ofcom’s text-to-switch process allows you to move providers without needing to speak to Vodafone.
✅ Cancel via PAC Code (Keep Your Number)
If you want to keep your number, request a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code):
- Text PAC to 65075 from your Vodafone mobile
- You’ll receive your PAC code via SMS within 60 seconds
- Give the PAC code to your new provider within 30 days
Your Vodafone contract will be automatically cancelled once the number is transferred. You’ll receive a final bill which may include early exit fees.
✅ Cancel via STAC Code (New Number)
If you don’t want to keep your number, request a STAC (Service Termination Authorisation Code):
- Text STAC to 75075
- You’ll receive your STAC code via SMS
- Provide the code to your new network provider
This cancels your Vodafone service and issues you a final bill. No need to contact Vodafone directly.
✅ Cancel Without Switching (Manual Cancellation)
If you’re not moving to a new provider and just want to cancel outright:
Cancel by Phone
Call 191 from your Vodafone mobile or 0333 304 0191 from any phone.
Request to cancel and follow instructions. Early termination fees may apply.
Cancel via Live Chat
Visit vodafone.co.uk and use the Live Chat service to speak to an advisor.
💬 Still Being Charged?
If you’re still seeing Vodafone charges after cancelling, it’s usually due to:
- A final bill covering charges up to your cancellation date
- Outstanding device payments (if you had a phone on a payment plan)
- Early exit fees for cancelling before your minimum term ends
Check your final bill or contact Vodafone customer services to clarify any remaining charges.
🗑️ Delete Your Account (Optional)
Once cancelled, you can request the deletion of your online Vodafone account and personal data:
- Log in at vodafone.co.uk
- Navigate to Account Settings > Privacy Settings
- Request account removal, or contact Vodafone directly to have your data removed
