How to Cancel Spotify Subscription UK

Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming services in the UK – but if you’re switching platforms, cutting back on spending, or just not using it anymore, cancelling is straightforward. Whether you signed up directly or through a third party like Apple or Google, this guide will show you how to cancel your Spotify subscription the right way.

📋 What to Know Before You Cancel

Spotify offers free and premium plans. If you cancel Spotify Premium, you won’t lose access to your playlists or account — you’ll just revert to the free version with ads and streaming limits.

You can cancel at any time, but you’ll keep your Premium benefits until the end of your current billing cycle. Refunds are not provided for unused time.

⚠️ If you subscribed to Spotify through a third party (like Apple, Google Play, or a mobile provider), you’ll need to cancel through that provider directly.

✅ Cancel via Web Browser

If you subscribed directly with Spotify:

  1. Visit www.spotify.com/uk/account and log in.
  2. Under the left-hand menu, click “Account Overview”.
  3. Scroll down to the Your Plan section.
  4. Click “Change Plan”.
  5. Scroll to the Spotify Free section and click “Cancel Premium”.
  6. Confirm your cancellation when prompted.

You’ll remain on Premium until the end of your current billing cycle.

📱 Cancel via Apple (iOS Users Only)

If you subscribed to Spotify Premium through your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your name > Subscriptions.
  3. Select Spotify from the list.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

If you don’t see Spotify listed, your subscription may not be billed through Apple.

📱 Cancel via Google Play (Android Users Only)

If you subscribed to Spotify Premium through Google Play:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap your profile icon > Payments & Subscriptions > Subscriptions.
  3. Select Spotify.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.

If you don’t see Spotify listed, your subscription may not be billed through Google.

💬 Still Being Charged?

If you’ve cancelled but are still being charged:

  • Double-check which platform you used to subscribe (Spotify, Apple, Google, or your mobile provider).
  • Make sure you’re logged into the correct Spotify account.
  • Visit www.spotify.com/uk/account and go to Receipts to verify billing history.

🗑️ Delete Your Account (Optional)

If you want to permanently close your Spotify account:

  1. Go to Spotify Support – Close Account.
  2. Click Close Account and follow the steps.
  3. You’ll receive a confirmation email — you must click the link inside to complete the deletion.

⚠️ Deleting your account removes your playlists, saved music, and followers permanently.
